    Description

Wonderful pair of Gilt Bronze sculptures.  The boy and girl are pursuing intellectual pursuits -- he has a telescope in his hand, and the girl is reading a book on the Art of Drawing.  They are both sitting on marble plinths.  The boy's plinth measures approx. 7 inches long and 3-1/4 inches wide.
The girl's plinth measures approx. 7 inches long and 3-3/8 inches wide.
Including the marble plinth, the sculptures are approx. 6-1/2 inches tall.  Without the plinth, the boy is approx. 5-1/2 inches tall and approx. 5-7/8 inches long.
Without the plinth, the girl is approx. 5-1/2 inches tall and approx. 6-1/4 inches long.
These sculptures are in very good condition with tarnish to the gilding.  The boy's marble plinth has one tiny ding to the front and two tiny dings to the back -- none of which are very visible, and as would be expected of such early marble plinths (see 2nd to last and 3rd to last pics).  The sides of the marble plinths are varnished, but not the tops, which are highly polished.  The boy weighs 5 pounds, 3-1/4 ounces; the girl weighs almost 6 pounds.  A beautiful pair for your collection.
